Registration open: NOTSL Spring Meeting, Monday, June 6, 2022, COUNTER and Tableau

NOTSL will hold its virtual Spring Meeting on Monday, June 6, 2022, via Zoom.

Registration is now open for “A Dive into Data: Using COUNTER and Tableau.” All are welcome; membership is conferred on all attendees.

Nathan Putnam, Director of Data Quality and Governance at OCLC, will present on “Creating a Tableau Dashboard to Analyze Descriptive Data.” This session includes an overview of the Tableau Desktop with an optional hands-on session building worksheets to incorporate into a dashboard. Those interested in putting together the dashboard during the session can download a 14-day free trial of the desktop client at https://www.tableau.com/products/trial in the days leading up to the meeting.

Stephanie Church, Acquisitions Librarian, Case Western Reserve University, will present on “Tableau in Action: Enhancing Discovery and Complementing Decision-Making.” This presentation will focus on Tableau dashboards using Sierra data, COUNTER5 reports, and vendor supplied reports. Additionally, this presentation will include the discoveries and collection decisions made because of these visualizations.

Greg Edwards, Cataloging and Metadata Librarian, Lehigh University, Phil Hewitt, Senior Engineering and Electronic Collections Librarian at Lehigh University, and Scarlet Galvan, Area Lead for Assessment and Planning, and Collection Strategist Librarian, Grand Valley State University Libraries, will co-present on “Understanding and Using COUNTER in Collection Analysis.” This presentation will provide a comprehensive introduction to COUNTER: what it is, how to interpret it, and when to use it. Including report breakdowns, analysis techniques, and case studies, we will show you how to use COUNTER to make informed collection development decisions.
