Retirement News – Phyllis Jones

I am brimming with mixed emotions as I share the news that Phyllis Jones, Senior Recordings Cataloger, will be retiring at the end of January 2023 after a decades-long career at the Conservatory Library. During her tenure, Phyllis has been a dedicated and detailed cataloger of the highest caliber, and has also curated the Conservatory Library’s sound recording collection, selecting records to grow our holdings into a broad core collection deep in the various areas of curriculum focus over the years. Her cataloging contributions have provided rich and accurate descriptions and authority data that have enabled generations of performers and scholars to search and browse our collections–first in card files, next in OBIS, and then in WorldCat and the future linked data world.

True to form, Phyllis has requested that we not have a gathering in her honor, but I hope you will join me in wishing her all the very best. Congratulations, Phyllis, and thank you so much for all you have done for the Con Library, OCL, Oberlin, and the cataloging and music library worlds.
