Kay Spiros is Retiring

After 13 years as the Clarence Ward Art Library’s Administrative Assistant, Kay has announced she will be retiring in May.  She is looking forward to spending time with her eight grandchildren, her church, and expanding her flower farm, Kay’s BouKays.*

Kay was employed as temporary staff in October 2010 and then hired when the position became available.  She is responsible for the day to day operations of the art library including supervision of 18-22 student assistants who work days, nights and weekends. Kay works with most library departments and branches many of you have collaborated with her in areas like collection management, facility or equipment issues, or outreach and social media.  Kay has been active on Library Council and served on a search committee.

What I will miss most is our wonderful partnership, and how our strengths and weaknesses balance so beautifully.  I will also miss Kay’s creativity, critical eye, and ability to brainstorm.  Together we have tackled big projects (Staying open during COVID-19; Moving 15,000 volumes to storage) and small projects (Celebrating Clarence Ward’s birthday) with mutual respect, hard work and undying optimism and humor.
