Mechanical Issues in Terrell

We had some weather-related damage to several parts of Terrell’s HVAC system during the recent cold and some of them may not be resolved by the time we return, so bring a sweater! Chet reports that systems are working normally in Archives & Special Collections.

The lower level of Mudd got it the worst. I do not have any reports of damage in the branches.

From Facilities concerning Terrell: “In the second floor west mechanical room we have 2 broken coils, a pre-heat coil and a re-heat coil.  On the third floor, in the west mechanical room there is a broken pre-heat coil. All the water from these coil breaks made there way to the drains in the mechanical spaces or the leaks were contained within the mechanical areas.  Importantly, a Siemens control cabinet in the AHU 4 mechanical room has gotten wet and is not functioning correctly.  This cabinet controls the environment for the data center.  The data center’s environment is stable with the CRAC units working independently themselves with little input or output to or from the building automation system.  A Siemens technician has been dispatched”

  1. I’ve been to the science library several times during the shutdown, all is well in the science center. No HVAC issues in the library. SIP-related work is taking place in various parts of the building, so there have been a few workers in Perlik Commons when I’ve stopped by.
