I finally had time to read all of the cards I received and notes written on catalog cards during my retirement celebration – what a great idea! I love the little catalog card “drawer.” It was truly an honor to read your good wishes and kind thoughts; thank you all so very much. You made the evening very special for me (and my family!) and I am enormously grateful for the planning and care that ensured such a delightful event. The “Quilling card” from the library staff is especially lovely (birds!). I am even more appreciative that contributions were made from OCL to the local chapter of League of Women Voters in honor of my career at Oberlin. That is just perfect — thank you! Thanks also for allowing me to take you down memory lane as I reminisced about the old Kettering Library and the move to the new Science Center. I’ve posted a pdf of the slides I showed, in case you’d like another look.
It has been a privilege to spend nearly all of my career here at Oberlin and you all are a huge part of that! I could not have found a better group of colleagues. I’ll be working full-time for the entire month of August and possibly teaching a few classes in the fall, so we can save goodbyes for later… back to work in the morning! –Alison
