Reading Girl

Seeking your input on a plan to move the Reading Girl to the area in front of where the Shansi Banner now hangs (it is going out for preservation in the next few weeks).  She would also be elevated on a circular stone platform, similar to how she was displayed when she was a Spear and Carnegie.  Seating would continue in this area outside the cafe.

Related to this would be a plan to move Pensarosa to the 2nd floor (site not pinned down) so as to highlight her as well.

I would want to get this done for start of semester….

Thoughts, caution, history, applause?

  1. Comment on my own post (with thanks to helpful staff member who pointed it out): The original plinth on which the Reading Girl sat was rectangular or square, not circular. Thanks for pointing that out! We may nonetheless go for a circular plinth…but I will discuss it with our stonemason/sculptor.

  2. I think it’s a great idea. We will want to make sure that reading girl is in a place that won’t get bumped too much by chairs. There are plugs in the wall and students often move the chairs around to plug in.
