Exciting news: Go-live date for the Flagging Project

Greetings all!

I’m writing with the tremendously exciting news that the long-awaited Flagging Project will finally be live on Wednesday (2/15/2023).

Please keep in mind that there will still be time to review and edit documents and forms as we work out tiny details, so expect some changes to the language in the associated documents during our collective review. I will be setting up meetings with all the various constituent groups to get everyone on the same page and field any questions or concerns.  A library staff document gives more background about the project and examples. A public documentation page can be found on the OCL website and will be updated and revised as needed.

Please feel free to reach out to me or Michael McFarlin with any questions.

Thanks,

Tim

Looking for missing Terrell VHS tape

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a missing VHS tape (a hot commodity if there ever was one!)

Tennessee Williams: theater in process (1976) dir. Richard Slote

call # VCR-1327

It’s needed by a Prof. Last check in was 3/10/22. We’re the only OhioLINK library with holdings of this title and it hasn’t been commercially digitized. If you know the whereabouts of this title, please let me know ASAP. Thank you!!!

RFP FOR NEW ILS L.I.V.E.

SORRY, that last acronym was just for fun.  Anyway, this just in:

Dear OhioLINK members,

We are happy to announce that the OhioLINK ILS RFP was made live earlier this week. As promised in our most recent Milestone Update, you can now find copies of the RFP documents on the Ostaff RFP page (Ostaff login required). The final RFP is comprised of: the technical and cost requirements, accessibility requirements, a security assessment form, and supplemental forms.

ILS Migration Survey

Hi Everyone,

You are invited to complete a short ILS Migration Survey to let the Oberlin College Libraries’ ILS Migration Task Force know what you would like to see in a new system. This information will be forwarded to OhioLINK, so to allow the task force time to process your feedback and submit it to OhioLINK by their deadline, please complete the survey by Friday, August 5, 2022, at noon.

OCL staff will have further opportunities to participate in the ILS vendor selection process at demo sessions after OhioLINK determines the finalists. More details about timing will be available later this year. See below for background information about the ILS migration.

Thanks for your help!

-Michael M.

Background:

The Ohio Legislature has approved funding for OhioLINK to seek proposals for a new integrated library system. The funding also includes the implementation costs of migrating OhioLINK member libraries, so it’s likely that big changes are coming to Sierra/OBIS in the next 2–3 years. OhioLINK is asking its members to provide feedback for the request for proposals (RFP) they intend to release in Fall 2022.

OCL has formed an ILS Migration Task Force that is charged with the preparation for the migration, as well as working with OhioLINK and the new vendor on implementing the new system. The task force is also gathering staff input, via the above survey, to forward to OhioLINK as they construct their RFP. Thanks for your input!
