Einstein Birthday Bash was a huge success!

On March 14, the Science Library celebrated Albert Einstein’s 144th birthday as a midterm study break for library patrons. Students enjoyed Einstein-themed sugar cookies, took on a challenging puzzle featuring the iconic Einstein-sticking-out-tongue photograph, and made their best guess on the number of smarties candy (brain food?) in a glass jar in order to win it. They also viewed a collection of Einstein’s journal articles on loan from Special Collections, including an off-print of his original article introducing the theory of relativity. Over 60 students enjoyed the day’s event.

Student feedback was tremendous and it felt good to bring a little joy and fun into the midterm craziness!

Art & Craft @ The Art Library

It is arts and crafts night every Thursday from 7-9pm in the Art Library.  Bring a project or create something new.  Tools, colorful paper, and crafting supplies – rubber stamps, glitter pens, markers, paper punches, stencils, etc. – provided free of charge.

Art & Craft @ The Art Library is designed to promote community and a sense of belonging among OC students, as well as the joy of creativity.  Please spread the word among your student staff. Open to OC staff and faculty as space and supplies allow.

Edit for Change! Join our Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

On Wednesday, March 8th from 3p to 7p in Mudd 113 (Learning Lab in Terrell Library), the Libraries, the Allen Memorial Art Museum, and the Public Humanities Concentration are co-sponsoring a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in observance of Women’s History Month.  We’ll be participating in the Art + Feminism international campaign, but encourage editing / creating content in any way that increases inclusivity and promotes visibility of underrepresented people (nonbinary and LGBTQ + communities, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, etc.).
