Speculation lessons, noon to 1pm on Friday, March 7 in Room 113.
Hope you are keeping up to date by monitoring the Ostaff LSP Migration page. It will be here before you know it!
OCOPE (the administrative assistants’ union) is coordinating a Non-perishable goods drive for Oberlin Community Services. We have a Holiday of Hope box located near the front door of the Terrell Main library as well as boxes in the Science Center and Conservatory lounge. Please consider participating by donating canned meats, vegetables, cereals, pasta, rice, toiletries, diapers size 4, 5, 6 and baby wipes. Just put them in the box. OCOPE is collecting for Oberlin Community Services through Monday Dec. 11. Thanks.
Hosted by Terrell Main Library and Musical Studies. Listen to Oberlin faculty and staff spin some tunes together. Wednesday’s (11/1) panelist includes Vilmarie Perez (Assistant Director for Career Readiness) who will talk about “Rock En Español” at the Birenbaum from 5:30-7pm. Join us for our 2nd event! And keep a look out for future events.
On Thursday, November 2nd from 12:30-1:45 in the Birenbaum Performance Space (in the basement of the hotel), Ada Calhoun will be orchestrating an experimental, multimedia reading from her book, Also A Poet: Frank O’Hara, My Father and Me. Aside from being a super-smart, talented, and celebrated writer, Ada also knows a lot about the world of audiobook publishing because she’s written two books that have gone direct to audio first and performed them both. So, it could be a really cool event for anyone interested in going into book studies or publishing. Lunch will be provided!
Also, you can read more about Ada and her role in the audiobook renaissance here: Want to Read Michael Lewis’s Next Work? You’ll Be Able to Listen to It First
This was hidden in the campus digest today:
Mudd parking lot expansion will commence work on Friday, October 27. Parking spaces within the Mudd lot will be blocked off as needed during the course of construction. Contact the Office of Facilities and Construction with questions about the Mudd parking lot expansion project at 440-775-5617.”
I am not sure how many others noticed the item in digest about offices on campus participating in a Halloween event for student, but I wanted to let everyone know the Research Help desk is going to participate and would love to invite others in the libraries to do the same. It is an opportunity to meet students and talk about what you do and hand out a little something for Halloween. If you do decide to participate let me know so I can put together a flier/map for the libraries.
Join your colleagues, professors, and student Thursday Oct 4 at 4:30 to read from a banned book. We will be gathering near the quilt on the first floor of the Terrell library.
Please join in on Friday, September 29 from 3:30-4:30 in the new Contemplation Garden under the ramp for the official dedication of the “Oberlin Reader” sculpture
commissioned by the Friends of the Libraries. Carved from Indiana limestone by the artist
Nicholas Fairplay, the sculpture celebrates reading and Oberlin readers in particular.
Champagne toast at 4:00pm in the Contemplation Garden on the north side of the Mudd ramp.
